==Geography== Mendon is in southeastern Monroe County at {{coord|42|59|52|N|77|30|16|W|}}. Mendon Center is about {{convert|13|mi|0}} south of [[Rochester, New York|Rochester]]. The town is bordered on the north by the town of [[Pittsford, New York|Pittsford]], on the west by the towns of [[Henrietta, New York|Henrietta]] and [[Rush, New York|Rush]], on the south by the town of [[Lima, New York|Lima]] in [[Livingston County, New York|Livingston County]] and the town of [[West Bloomfield, New York|West Bloomfield]] in [[Ontario County, New York|Ontario County]], and on the east by the town of [[Victor, New York|Victor]] in Ontario County. The town is made up mostly of horse farms and family homes. According to the [[U.S. Census Bureau]], the town has a total area of {{convert|40.0|sqmi|km2}}, of which {{convert|39.5|sqmi}} are land and {{convert|0.5|sqmi|1}}, or 1.29%, are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2024"/> [[Honeoye Creek]] flows through the southwestern part of the town, including through the village of [[Honeoye Falls, New York|Honeoye Falls]]. The creek is a part of the [[Genesee River]] watershed. [[Irondequoit Creek]] flows through the southeastern part of the town, and the majority of the town is part of its watershed. The highest elevation in Monroe County is just inside the southeast corner of Mendon, at {{convert|1028|ft}} above sea level, within the Hopper Hills.
