===Early life and education=== Von Sacher-Masoch was born in the city of [[Lemberg]], the capital of the [[Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria]] (now [[Lviv]], [[Ukraine]]), at the time a province of the [[Austrian Empire]], into the [[Roman Catholic]] family.
