==Geography== Kendall is located {{convert|14|mi}} southwest of [[downtown Miami]] at {{Coord|25|40|0|N|80|21|24|W|type:city}} (25.666781, −80.356533).<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|access-date=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> It is bordered to the east by the village of [[Pinecrest, Florida|Pinecrest]], to the southeast by the village of [[Palmetto Bay, Florida|Palmetto Bay]], to the south by [[Palmetto Estates, Florida|Palmetto Estates]] and [[Richmond Heights, Florida|Richmond Heights]], to the southwest by [[Three Lakes, Florida|Three Lakes]], to the west by [[The Crossings, Florida|The Crossings]], to the northwest by [[Kendale Lakes, Florida|Kendale Lakes]], to the north by [[Sunset, Florida|Sunset]], and to the northeast by [[Glenvar Heights, Florida|Glenvar Heights]]. [[U.S. Route 1]] forms the eastern boundary of Kendall; it leads northeast to Miami and southwest {{convert|16|mi}} to [[Homestead, Florida|Homestead]]. The [[Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike]] forms the western boundary of Kendall, leading north {{convert|10|mi|0}} to [[Doral, Florida|Doral]] and south {{convert|18|mi}} to its southern terminus at [[Florida City, Florida|Florida City]]. The Don Shula Expressway ([[Florida State Road 874]]) crosses Kendall from northeast to southwest. According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the Kendall CDP has a total area of {{convert|16.6|sqmi}}; {{convert|16.1|sqmi}} of it are land and {{convert|0.5|sqmi|1}} of it (3.03%) are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/>
