According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the borough had a total area of 16.79 square miles (43.47&nbsp;km<sup>2</sup>), including 1.07 square miles (2.78&nbsp;km<sup>2</sup>) of land and 15.71 square miles (40.70&nbsp;km<sup>2</sup>) of water (93.59%).<ref name=CensusArea/><ref name=GR1 />
