Northeast of Kalkaska Township, US 131 runs through [[Mancelona, Michigan|Mancelona]], [[Alba, Michigan|Alba]], and [[Walloon Lake, Michigan|Walloon Lake]], before ending at [[U.S. Route 31 in Michigan|US 31]] in [[Petoskey, Michigan|Petoskey]]. To the southwest, US 131 passes through [[Fife Lake, Michigan|Fife Lake]] before upgrading to a [[Limited-access road|freeway]]. The highway continues south, passing through [[Cadillac, Michigan|Cadillac]], [[Grand Rapids, Michigan|Grand Rapids]], and [[Kalamazoo, Michigan|Kalamazoo]], before ending just south of the [[Indiana]] state line.
