==Geography==
Hobbs is in eastern Lea County, less than {{convert|4|mi|0|abbr=on}} west of the [[Texas]] border. [[U.S. Route 62 in New Mexico|U.S. Routes 62]]/[[U.S. Route 180|180]] pass through the city, leading east {{convert|29|mi|abbr=on}} to [[Seminole, Texas]], and west {{convert|69|mi|abbr=on}} to [[Carlsbad, New Mexico|Carlsbad]]. [[New Mexico State Road 18|State Road 18]] also passes through Hobbs, leading northwest {{convert|21|mi|abbr=on}} to [[Lovington, New Mexico|Lovington]], the Lea [[county seat]], and south {{convert|61|mi|abbr=on}} to [[Kermit, Texas]].
