The city limits have expanded south and west {{convert|5|mi|0}} to encompass part of [[Interstate 10]]; the city is now bordered on the south by [[Greensboro, Florida|Greensboro]].

[[U.S. Route 90]] passes through Gretna as Main Street; it leads southeast {{convert|5|mi|0}} to [[Quincy, Florida|Quincy]], the Gadsden County seat, and northwest {{convert|14|mi}} to [[Chattahoochee, Florida|Chattahoochee]].

[[Interstate 10 in Florida|Interstate 10]] passes through the southwest part of Gretna, with access from Exit 174 ([[Florida State Road 12]]). I-10 leads east {{convert|28|mi}} to [[Tallahassee, Florida|Tallahassee]] and west {{Convert|160|mi}} to [[Pensacola, Florida|Pensacola]]. SR 12 leads southwest {{convert|24|mi}} to [[Bristol, Florida|Bristol]], and [[Florida State Road 65|SR 65]] leads south {{convert|17|mi}} to [[Hosford, Florida|Hosford]].
