==Geography== Forsyth is located in central Monroe County at {{coord|33.035108|-83.938085|type:city_region:US|format=dms|display=inline}}.<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|access-date=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> The city is located along [[Interstate 75 in Georgia|Interstate 75]] and [[U.S. Route 41 in Georgia|U.S. Route 41]] northwest of [[Macon, Georgia|Macon]]. I-75 runs southeast to northwest through the eastern part of town, with access from exits 185 through 188. The interstate leads southeast {{convert|23|mi}} to downtown Macon and northwest {{convert|61|mi}} to [[Atlanta]]. US 41 runs through the downtown area from east to west, leading southeast to Macon and west {{convert|13|mi}} to [[Barnesville, Georgia|Barnesville]]. Other highways that run through the city include Georgia State Routes [[Georgia State Route 18|18]], [[Georgia State Route 42|42]], and [[Georgia State Route 83|83]]. According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the city of Forsyth has a total area of {{convert|9.0|sqmi}}, of which {{convert|0.004|sqmi|acre|1}}, or 0.04%, are water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/> The city sits atop a ridge which drains southwest to tributaries of [[Tobesofkee Creek]] and northeast to tributaries of [[Rum Creek (Ocmulgee River tributary)|Rum Creek]]; both creeks are southeast-flowing tributaries of the [[Ocmulgee River]].
