The engagement took place in the fall of 1913 in the [[Yusupov Palace (Crimea)|Yusupov Palace]] in [[Koreiz]]. He married Princess [[Princess Irina Alexandrovna of Russia|Irina of Russia]], the tsar's only biological niece, in the [[Anichkov Palace]] in St. Petersburg on 22 February 1914. The bride wore a [[veil]] that had belonged to [[Marie Antoinette]].<ref>J.T. Fuhrmann, p. 198.</ref> The Yusupovs went on honeymoon to the Crimea, [[Kingdom of Italy|Italy]], [[Khedivate of Egypt|Egypt]], [[Jerusalem]], [[London]], and [[Bad Kissingen]] in [[German Empire|Germany]], where his parents were staying.
