==Geography== According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the city has a total area of {{convert|7.408|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, of which {{convert|6.414|sqmi|sqkm|2}} is land and {{convert|0.994|sqmi|sqkm|2}} is water.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2024"/> Most of the city rolls gently down to the waters of [[Puget Sound]] from an elevation of approximately {{convert|400|ft}} along the eastern city boundary on [[Washington State Route 99|Pacific Highway]], allowing many homes to enjoy an unobstructed view of the sound and [[Vashon, Washington|Vashon]]. The ravines of Des Moines Creek and Massey Creek deeply incise this broad slope.
