==Geography==
Dalton City is in northwestern Moultrie County, with its western border following the [[Macon County, Illinois|Macon County]] line. The village is located along [[Illinois Route 121|Route 121]] at its intersection with [[Illinois Route 128|Route 128]]. IL 121 runs along the northern and eastern edges of the village, leading southeast {{convert|6|mi|0}} to [[Bethany, Illinois|Bethany]] and {{convert|13|mi}} to [[Sullivan, Illinois|Sullivan]], the Moultrie [[county seat]], while to the northwest it leads six miles to [[Mount Zion, Illinois|Mount Zion]] and 13 miles to [[Decatur, Illinois|Decatur]]. IL 128 runs along the west side of the village, leading south {{convert|22|mi}} to [[Shelbyville, Illinois|Shelbyville]].

According to the 2010 census, Dalton City has a total area of {{convert|0.53|sqmi|sqkm|2}}, all land.<ref name="CenPopGazetteer2022"/> It is within the [[West Okaw River]] watershed.
