==Operation==
Each D2G reactor was rated for a maximum thermal output of {{convert|148|MW}}, with two steam turbines which drove two shafts, each generating between {{convert|30000|and|35000|shp}}.<ref name="B">{{cite web|title=US Nuclear Propulsion|url=https://www.forecastinternational.com/archive/disp_old_pdf.cfm?ARC_ID=1838|date=18 August 2000|url-access=registration}}</ref><ref name="A"/> Each reactor was {{convert|37|ft}} long, {{convert|31|ft}} wide, and weighed {{convert|1400|t}}. One reactor was located in the aft of the hull, the other in the fore. The reactors of the ''California'' class ships were replaced by {{convert|165|MW|adj=on}} D2W reactors{{Clarify|date=December 2022|reason=See talk page}} in the early 1990s.<ref name="A"/>
