==Geography==
Collegedale is located in southeastern Hamilton County at {{Coord|35|3|6|N|85|2|49|W|type:city}} (35.051578, -85.047004),<ref name="GR1">{{cite web|url=https://www.census.gov/geographies/reference-files/time-series/geo/gazetteer-files.html|publisher=[[United States Census Bureau]]|access-date=2011-04-23|date=2011-02-12|title=US Gazetteer files: 2010, 2000, and 1990}}</ref> in the valley of Wolftever Creek. Just west of the city center, the creek cuts through White Oak Mountain, forming Collegedale Gap. [[Tennessee State Route 317]] passes through the city center and Collegedale Gap, leading southeast {{convert|10|mi|0}} to [[Tennessee State Route 60|State Route 60]] and northwest {{convert|4|mi|0}} to [[Interstate 75]] in the northeastern outskirts of [[Chattanooga, Tennessee|Chattanooga]]. Downtown Chattanooga is {{convert|19|mi}} west of Collegedale. [[Tennessee State Route 321]] runs through the western part of Collegedale, leading north to U.S. routes [[U.S. Route 11|11]] and [[U.S. Route 64|64]] just north of Ooltewah and south {{convert|5|mi|0}} to the [[Georgia (U.S. state)|Georgia]] state line.

As of the [[2010 United States Census|2010 census]], the city had a total area of {{convert|25.6|km2|order=flip}}, all of it recorded as land.<ref name="Census 2010"/>
