The first race in 1867 saw the [[filly]] [[Ruthless (horse)|Ruthless]] win, while the following year was won by [[General Duke (horse)|General Duke]].<ref name=PastWinners /> The first post parade in the [[United States]] was at the 14th Belmont, in 1880.
