As a result, [[Athens]] intervenes in the dispute between Corinth and Corcyra, and, at the [[Battle of Sybota]],<ref>{{Cite web |title=Heritage History - Products |url=https://www.heritage-history.com/index.php?c=resources&s=war-dir&f=wars_peloponnesian |access-date=2024-09-25 |website=www.heritage-history.com}}</ref> a small contingent of Athenian ships play a critical role in preventing a Corinthian fleet from capturing Corcyra.
