Despite the recognition given to the film, Lee was not nominated for the [[Academy Award for Best Director]] (though he was nominated for the [[Golden Globe Award for Best Director|Golden Globe]], the [[BAFTA Award for Best Direction|BAFTA]] and the [[Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing – Feature Film|Directors Guild Award]]).
