Suzanne Vega's song "Calypso" from 1987 album Solitude Standing shows Odysseus from Calypso's point of view, and tells the tale of him coming to the island and his leaving. The American progressive metal band Symphony X released a 24-minute adaptation of the tale on their 2002 album The Odyssey.
