===Asia and Oceania===

The former Soviet government built a number of automated lighthouses powered by [[radioisotope thermoelectric generator]]s in remote locations in northern Russia. The [[United Kingdom]] and the [[Republic of Ireland]] together have three bodies: lighthouses around the coasts of England and Wales are looked after by [[Trinity House]], those around Scotland and the Isle of Man by the [[Northern Lighthouse Board]] and those around Ireland by the [[Commissioners of Irish Lights]].

In Canada, lighthouses are managed by the [[Canadian Coast Guard]].

In the United States, lighthouses are maintained by the [[United States Coast Guard]], into which the [[United States Lighthouse Service]] was merged in 1939.<ref name="nps"/>
