The prayer and its melody have been the basis of a number of pieces of [[european classical music|classical music]], including a setting of the prayer by [[Arnold Schoenberg]], a [[Kol Nidre (Bruch)|piece for solo cello and orchestra]] by [[Max Bruch]], symphonic variations for orchestra by [[Emil von Reznicek]], a string quartet by [[John Zorn]], and others.

The [[Electric Prunes]] album ''[[Release of An Oath]]'', subtitled and commonly called ''The Kol Nidre'' after the title of its first and thematically most central track, is based on a combination of [[Christianity|Christian]] and Jewish liturgy.
