On 1 February 2015, Chan was awarded the honour of Knight Commander of the [[Orders, decorations, and medals of the Malaysian states and federal territories#Federal Territories|Order of the Territorial Crown]] by the [[King of Malaysia|Yang di-Pertuan Agong]] of Malaysia [[Abdul Halim of Kedah|Tuanku Abdul Halim]] in conjunction with the country's [[Federal Territory Day]].
