Dating back to 1888, the [[Raritan River Railroad]] is a [[shortline railroad]] that stretched {{convert|12.6|mi}} through Middlesex County. Passenger service ended in 1938 and the line, now much-reduced in length and part of [[Conrail]], provides freight service through the township, where two businesses still receive weekly freight shipments of plastic.<ref>Oliveto, Gerald.
