In the [[Plato]]nic work ''[[Laws (dialogue)|Laws]]'' is mentioned that the [[Achaeans (tribe)|Achaeans]] who fought in the [[Trojan War]], on their return from Troy were driven out from their homes and cities by the young residents, so they migrated under a leader named Dorieus and hence they were renamed "Dorians".<ref>Plato, ''Laws'', [https://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0166%3Abook%3D3%3Apage%3D682 3.682]</ref>
