Built in 1871, the Springer is a professional theatre which produces live theatre and hosts one of America's largest theatre training programs, the Springer Theatre Academy. Former United States President [[Jimmy Carter]] proclaimed it the State Theatre of Georgia for its 1971 centennial season.
