Yekaterinburg serves as the centre of the Ural Federal District. As a result, it serves as the residence of the [[Presidential Envoy|presidential envoy]], the highest official of the district and part of the administration of the President of Russia. The residence is located the building of the regional government on October Square near the Iset River embankment.
