The use of menorahs in Jewish art and in particular in Jewish [[funerary art]] became much more common in the late Roman and Byzantine periods. === Samaritan art === The menorah was a distinctive symbol of [[Samaritans|Samaritan]] identity during the Byzantine and Islamic periods.
