Due to its proximity to Kansas City, stations from that market serve as default affiliate of MyNetworkTV ([[KSMO-TV]]/Kansas City) and default member station of PBS ([[KCPT]]/Kansas City) due to the lack of stations of either network licensed to the market. [[American Broadcasting Company|ABC]] affiliate [[KQTV]] had long been the only major commercial station in St. Joseph, but in June 2012, the locally based [[News-Press & Gazette Company]] signed on [[KNPN-LD]] as a [[Fox Broadcasting Company|Fox]] affiliate, KBJO-LD as a [[The CW Plus|CW+]] affiliate, and KNPG-LD as a [[Telemundo]] affiliate.
