O'Donnell has suffered with mental issues her entire life, attributing it to the sexual abuse that was inflicted on her by her father when she was a child. She struggles with major depressive disorder, PTSD, anxiety issues, and body-image issues and takes antidepressants. In 2008, O'Donnell denied she is an alcoholic and claimed to have temporarily given up alcohol to lose weight. O'Donnell suffered a heart attack in mid-August 2012.
