Port Townsend lies along [[Washington State Route 20|State Route 20]], a major highway that connects the Olympic Peninsula to the northern regions of the state. The highway terminates at {{convert|13|mi|km}} to the southwest at a junction with [[U.S. Route 101 in Washington|U.S. Route 101]] (US{{nbsp}}101) in [[Discovery Bay, Washington|Discovery Bay]]. The city is also served by [[Jefferson Transit (Washington)|Jefferson Transit]], a local public transit system that operates buses within Port Townsend and to adjacent areas.
