Following the start of the [[1947–48 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine]], a number of anti-Jewish events occurred throughout the Arab world, some of which have been described as pogroms. In 1947, half of Aleppo's 10,000 Jews left the city in the wake of the [[1947 Anti-Jewish riots in Aleppo|Aleppo riots]], while other anti-Jewish riots took place in [[1947 Aden riots|British Aden]] and then in 1948 in the [[1948 Anti-Jewish Riots in Oujda and Jerada|French Moroccan cities of Oujda and Jerada]].<ref name="antisemitism" />
