In November 2016, an extreme right-wing terrorist cell calling itself the ''Organisation d’armées sociales'' (OAS) emerged in France.<ref name=20Oct2020>{{cite journal |last1=Nicolas |first1=Lebourg |date=January 2021 |title=Extreme Right Terrorist Radicalization in post-2015 France |url=https://www.illiberalism.org/extreme-right-terrorist-radicalization-in-france-since-november-13-2015/ |journal=Illiberalism Studies Program Working Papers |issue=3 |pages=11 |access-date=12 January 2021}}</ref> The acronym was a nod to the original Organisation Armée Secrète.
