Manhattan Beach is in the Second Supervisorial District of Los Angeles County. Los Angeles County maintains the beach and provides daily cleaning and grooming. The county also maintains the bike path at the eastern edge of the beach.
The Manhattan Beach County Library is located downtown on Highland Avenue two blocks north of Manhattan Beach Boulevard. The library is part of the [[County of Los Angeles Public Library]] system, and includes Internet-accessible computers, WiFi, and access to the six million items in the county library collection.
