===Universities and colleges=== In 1967, a branch of [[Texas State Technical College]] was established in Harlingen. In 2012, the UT System Board of Regents approved the merger of the [[University of Texas at Brownsville]] and the [[University of Texas-Pan American]] to form the [[University of Texas Rio Grande Valley]] (UTRGV) and the [[University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine]], the latter using resources from the RAHC.
