Since 1966, St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Hacienda Heights has hosted a carnival event called "Early California Days", (also known as 'Harvest in the Heights') usually held for a week each summer. Since the 1970s, there has been an annual football derby between rival high schools, Los Altos and Glen A.
