: A stack or pile of cards, usually from the [[#stock|stock]] or [[#talon|talon]], that is formed when they are turned up but cannot be played immediately. The pile is usually [[#squared|squared]] and [[#face-up|face-up]] and only the topmost card is [[#available|available]]. Also rubbish heap, waste heap or discard pile.
