MOD 45147682]] The Royal Navy has a significant presence on the Firth of Clyde. HMNB Clyde is known as [[Faslane]] within the navy and is located on [[Loch Long]]. HMNB Clyde's role is with the servicing and maintenance of the UK submarine defence fleet. On [[Loch Long]], at Glen Mallan, the Northern Ammunition Jetty was refurbished, to accommodate the navyβs new aircraft carriers, [[HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08)|HMS ''Queen Elizabeth'']] and [[HMS Prince of Wales (R09)|HMS ''Prince of Wales'']], with work completed in January 2022.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/news-and-latest-activity/news/2022/january/12/20220112-glen-mallan-jetty|title=Ammunition loading jetty for Royal Navy's surface fleet completed}}</ref> The jetty is part of the [[DM Glen Douglas]] military munitions depot.
