The city is home to 7 national protected areas, and at least 15 places on the [[National Register of Historic Places listings in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana|National Register of Historic Places]]: [[Atchafalaya National Heritage Area]], [[Baton Rouge National Cemetery]], [[Independence Park Botanic Gardens]], [[Laurens Henry Cohn Sr. Memorial Plant Arboretum]], [[LSU Hilltop Arboretum]], [[Magnolia Cemetery (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)|Magnolia Cemetery]], and [[Port Hudson National Cemetery]].
