===Architecture===
A substantial percentage of the houses in Washington were built prior to 1950,<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.cerc.com/townprofiles/getPDF.asp?Town=Washington|title = Site Unavailable}}</ref> and many of the structures built since then have faithfully followed the town's rural New England vernacular, resulting in an unusual degree of architectural cohesion. The Connecticut Historical Commission<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.truffa.net/cslib-org/|title=Informativa per l'utenza: il sito cslib.org diventerà truffa.net|website=www.truffa.net|access-date=August 13, 2019}}</ref> conducted a comprehensive inventory of historic structures in Washington and in 2000 published the voluminous "Historic and Architectural Resource Survey of Washington, Connecticut," which includes detailed information about dozens of historic structures throughout the town.
