== Rhodesia ==
The [[British South Africa Police]] (BSAP) developed its Special Branch in the early 1950s amid growing political unrest in the [[Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland]]. It remained active following the dissolution of the federation and was instrumental in creating the [[Selous Scouts]] during the [[Rhodesian Bush War]].<ref>Flower, K. (1987) ''Serving Secretly.
