Graduates have joined South Dakota's state government and Congress, including [[Kristi Noem]], the state's first female governor and a former U.S. representative, and current U.S. Senator [[Mike Rounds]]. Members of the South Dakota Supreme Court, former Chief Justice [[David Gilbertson]] and current Associate Justice [[Mark Salter (South Dakota judge)|Mark Salter]], attended the university for their undergraduate degrees.
