Samara is a multi-confessional city with various religious groups, including an [[Russian Orthodox Church|Orthodox Christian]] majority and minorities of [[Armenian Apostolic Church|Armenian Apostolic Christians]], Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, and Jews.

However, since 2009, a Russian "anti-extremism" law has led to an increase in repression of religious minorities.
