Milland decided to return to the stage and in 1964 appeared as Higgins in a touring version of ''My Fair Lady'', with mezzo soprano [[Marilyn Savage]] as Eliza Doolittle. The play ran in New York from February until July of that year, after which Milland took the play on the road. In 1968, he reprised the role in a [[Hostile Witness|film of the same title]], which he also directed.
