It is classified as hot and dry-winter (winter is hotter than summer) [[semi-arid climate|semi-arid]] ([[Köppen climate classification]] (''BSh''), as with much of southeastern Somalia. Summer (Jun-Aug) is the coldest and rainiest season. Mogadishu is located in or near the tropical thorn woodland biome of the [[Holdridge life zones|Holdridge]] global bioclimatic scheme.
