With the assistance of the city, the LHCDC was able to raise funds to buy the theater. By March 2008, the cost of renovating the building was estimated at just under $10 million. The LHCDC was unable to raise the money needed for renovations, and the building accumulated three liens.<ref>{{cite news|last=Benham|first=Carol|title=Timeline of LHCDC's plans for the Lompoc Theatre|url=http://www.lompocrecord.com/news/local/fate-of-lompoc-theatre-in-hands-of-city-council/article_9a11a490-deb7-11e1-8df8-0019bb2963f4.html|access-date=March 19, 2014|newspaper=[[The Lompoc Record]]|date=August 5, 2012}}</ref> The Lompoc Theatre Project Organization was formed in 2012 with the help of Howlin' Byroon's Music Store (2009β2014) owner Brian W.
