Several ramps have exposed steel beams and other unfinished surfaces, showing signs of construction activity.]] Major portions of I-90 in the Midwest and Northeastern states used existing toll roads built by state governments in the 1950s and 1960s. The [[Jane Addams Memorial Tollway|Northwest Tollway]], [[Chicago Skyway]], [[Indiana Toll Road]], [[Ohio Turnpike]], [[New York State Thruway]], and [[Massachusetts Turnpike]] all predate I-90 and
