==Administration==
As a [[Communes of Chile|commune]], Concepción is a third-level [[administrative division of Chile]] administered by a [[municipal council]], headed by an [[alcalde]] who is directly elected every four years. The 2016–2020 mayor was Álvaro Ortiz Vera ([[Christian Democratic Party (Chile)|Christian Democratic Party]]), who was first elected in 2012. The communal council has 10 seats, which are currently occupied (2016–2020) by three for [[Christian Democratic Party (Chile)|Christian Democratic Party]], two for [[National Renewal (Chile)|National Renewal]], two for [[Independent Democrat Union]], one for [[Communist Party of Chile|Communist Party]], one for [[Socialist Party of Chile|Socialist Party]], and one for [[Social Democrat Radical Party|Radical Party]]. Within the [[electoral divisions of Chile]], Concepción is represented in the [[Chamber of Deputies of Chile|Chamber of Deputies]] by Gaston Saavedra ([[Socialist Party of Chile|PS]]), José Miguel Ortiz ([[Christian Democratic Party|PDC]]), Jaime Toha (PS), Felix Gonzalez ([[Green Ecologist Party (Chile)|PEV]]), [[Enrique van Rysselberghe Herrera|Enrique Van Rysselberghe]] (UDI), Sergio Bobadilla (UDI), [[Francesca Muñoz]] (RN) and Leonidas Romero (RN), as part of the 21st electoral district ([[Concepción Province, Chile|Concepción Province]] without [[Lota, Chile|Lota]]). The commune is represented in the [[Senate of Chile|Senate]] by Alejandro Navarro Brain ([[Broad Social Movement|MAS]]) and Jacqueline Van Rysselberghe (UDI) as part of the 12th senatorial constituency (Biobío-Costa).
