===Charitable groups===
Among the earliest women's groups in Washington state, the St. Helen's Club of Chehalis was founded on February 5, 1895. The literary organization, a member of the [[General Federation of Women's Clubs]] (GFWC) since 1896, has advocated for the importance of "literature, arts, science and vital issues of the day", a motto stretching back to the founding days of the club.
