[[Muslims]] consider camel meat ''[[halal]]'' ({{langx|ar|حلال}}, 'allowed'). However, according to some [[Islamic schools and branches|Islamic schools of thought]], a state of impurity is brought on by the consumption of it. Islamic texts contain several stories featuring camels. In the story of the people of [[Thamud]], the prophet [[Salih]] miraculously brings forth a ''[[She-Camel of God|naqat]]'' ({{langx|ar|ناقة}}, '[[milch-camel]]') out of a rock. After [[Muhammad]] migrated from [[Mecca]] to [[Medina]] (the [[Hijrah]]), he allowed [[Qaswa|his she-camel]] to roam there; the location where the camel stopped to rest determined the location where he would build his house in Medina.<ref>Campo, Juan Eduardo (2009).
