During 2005, Arriva was awarded a 15-year contract to operate trains from [[Groningen (city)|Groningen]] to [[Leeuwarden]], [[Delfzijl]], [[Roodeschool]] and [[Nieuweschans]]. It also secured a contract to operate trains from Leeuwarden to [[Harlingen, Netherlands|Harlingen Haven]] and to [[Stavoren]].
