In [[kleptoparasitism]] (from Greek κλέπτης (''kleptēs''), "thief"), parasites steal food gathered by the host. The parasitism is often on close relatives, whether within the same species or between species in the same genus or family. For instance, the many lineages of [[cuckoo bee]]s lay their eggs in the nest cells of other [[bee]]s in the same family.<ref name="SlaterRosenblatt2005">{{cite book |last1=Slater |first1=Peter J.
