On top of the hills of Janapav is a [[Shiva]] temple where Parashurama is believed to have worshipped [[Lord Shiva|Shiva]], the ashram is known as Jamadagni Ashram, named after his father. In [[Kannada]] folklore, especially in devotional songs sung by the [[Devdasi]]s he is often referred to as a son of [[Yellamma]].
